On this day in history, July 21st, 2007, the final book of the Harry Potter series, written by J.K. Rowling, was released to millions of readers who anxiously awaited the conclusion to see how Harry Potter would bring good and defeat Lord Voldemort.

The final book brought the final showdown. In the end, Harry and his friends defeat the enemy and peace is brought to the world. It was a good story enjoyed by kids and adults alike. To date, nearly half a billion people around the world have read at least one Harry Potter book. Millions more have seen the movies or gone to a theme park.

The popularity of this story shows that people across the world and across generations long for a story where good triumphs over evil, victory is secured by the righteous in a final showdown, and a hero bring peace to the world.

God has placed His story into our hearts. This is God’s story–His story–from Genesis to Revelation. The story of God written in the Bible–a sixty-six book series authored by God Himself–concludes with Christ’s return, His defeat of Satan and His establishment of eternal peace to earth.

By faith, we not only get to read about that final part of the series, we get to experience the victory that Christ will win. In response, join with the famous refrain of the last book of the Bible:  “Come, Lord Jesus!” (Rev. 22:20).
